Two prophets, two friends that God brought together in the middle of a land that had decided to follow the gods of this world.
Elijah, had called on the clouds to disappear and cause a famine for 3 years in the land. God first brought him to a brook and had ravens feed him. Then God told him to move and that there was someone waiting to feed him. (1Kings 17)
Elisha really fascinates me. But it is difficult to study Elisha without noticing Elijah. Both had said yes to Lord their God. They stood out just as Daniel would later and his 3 friends.
What really gets me is how they just stood up and expected God to be there, just as Daniel's friends did. The truth was not diluted. The courage to do the right thing and then God showed up. God noticed the single
God knew what he was doing. He protects his people. Not everyone, only those who are listening, reading his word. God knows where his people are. So don't worry about the coming disasters.
Then came the sacrifice of the bull on the alter of Baal/Asheroth and the bull on the altar of the Lord. The 850 priests sacrificed early in the day at the time of the morning sacrifice and Elijah took his turn at the time of the evening sacrifice. Waiting upon the Lord to act. He had already gone through the 3 years of famine. He knew that God would do what he asked.
God did send the fire for the scarifice. And later he sent chariot of fire to take his servant.
I know the times are coming when we will feel all alone just as Elijah. He spent 40 days in the wilderness after the fire and then God first fed the man and then spoke (1Kings 19) with a small voice.
God will take care of his missionary. God will provide for our needs. God has and will provide for us. He is our Father as long as the blood of the lamb covers us.
Claim your inheritence as Elijah did.
