This past weekend I was thinking about the past week's sermon. The preacher encouraged us to start small. To begin making a little step in the right direction.
And as I was thinking this I was brushing my teeth. Standing still and only moving my right hand. I began to think. How can I change this circumstance? I need to get more active. I need to begin small. Little changes.
So I started to move my knees and began deep knee bends for about a minute and then I started to move my left leg opposite my right hand. And as I wait for the water to fill the pot I have started to do more deep knee bends-holding onto the counter. As I walk I am starting to move my arms and hands more. Even driving I have started to pull my stomach in and out. Sitting here typing I am lifting and lowering my heals.
And as I was thinking about moving more I realized that I really do not want to leave the comfort of my bed in the early hours so I decided I will do some stretches in the morning while waiting for my tea to boil. So this morning I did some knees to my chin while in bed. (After visiting the bathroom). I took about 5 minutes and moved my limbs while my back was resting. Nothing was strained, no sweat- but my heart was happy.
I have come to the conclusion that being "lazy" is an addiction. I did not like to move beyond what I have to. But.... as I sit and stand still my body is "falling" down. This temple that God has created is not working at full capacity. And that is what the devil likes- an ineffective fighting warrior.
So I have begun to watch and move with some dancing DVDs.
I have also laid down my sword for the past two weeks. That is also a win for the opposition. Not picking up my sword- the Bible I am not learning how great my Creator is.
Little steps. One day at a time.
God has sent an invitation to us to dance with Him. I have decided to move. Will you dance with us? Christ will indeed show you the steps. He has given the words to 150 songs-Psalms even to get us started.
